I have struggled with my weight for most of my life. As a single working mum, I know how hard it can be to find the motivation, time and energy to invest in yourself and make the changes needed to succeed in your fitness goals.

The change for me came when I joined a gym and was offered personal training. I found someone who listened to what I wanted, helped me set goals and gave me the tools and building blocks to achieve them. I had someone I could talk to without judgement, someone who believed in me, when I didn’t believe in myself.

I fell in love with training and soon realised that I was motivated and found more time to train as I had more energy. The benefits were tenfold, I not only started to get fitter and lost weight, but I was physically stronger, my confidence increased, my stress levels reduced, I slept better and most importantly I was happier!

As my training has progressed, I’ve found myself becoming more interested in the specifics of anatomy and nutrition, the different types of training and how they affect my body. I’ve realised that there is so much misinformation in the fitness industry and ‘quick fixes’ to lose weight and get fitter (many of which I have tried at one time or another) that simply don’t work.

So, I qualified as a Personal Trainer, having tried and failed and tried again I truly believe that I can use my experience and knowledge to support you on your fitness journey.

The simple fact is that it takes hard work and dedication, but I truly believe that with the right support and building blocks anyone can achieve their goals from losing weight to running a marathon to competing in a strongman (or woman) competition…..the only limit, is you! It’s never too late to start your journey………you have what it takes, don’t ever doubt yourself!

Will - Basefit PT Teacher

Hi I’m Will,

I started from an early age playing football and competing at county level cross country. From this I gained a sponsor to enable me to progress through seasons of competing in Enduro mountain biking all over the UK, winning events in my age category and older age groups.

Working part time with a school coaching company, Time4Sport, during the school holidays. I’ve been able to engage with young children, helping them to feel comfortable in new social groups and playing all sports ranging from fundamental catching games to cricket, football etc.

My current hobbies are going to the gym focusing on hypertrophy training and also mountain biking which utilizes a lot of cardiovascular endurance.

I left school and went to study Sports & Exercise Science at Newcastle College achieving Distinction* from here furthered my progress onto degree level Sports & Exercise Science at university having now completed at Level 4 in Sports Science.

I now study at level 5 where I have branched to Strength & Conditioning pathway of Sports Science, this method of training uses a combination of strength training and endurance conditioning, covering all aspects of improving performance to name just a few things I’ve completed in studies.

Being able to benefit your lifestyle or what goals you want to reach is something I want to achieve as much as you.

Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained.

Hannah Richards - Basefit Trainer

My fitness journey commenced with a desire to prioritize health in my life. Initially starting with running, I ventured into personal training and discovered a profound sense of fulfilment in weight training. However, the conventional gym environment didn't quite align with me.

Driven by the idea of aiding others in their movement pursuits, I pursued a level 2 gym instructor certification and began working at a local gym. While I loved assisting individuals, the corporate aspects overshadowed the core essence of helping, prompting me to seek a different path. This led me to pursue a level 3 personal trainer qualification, eventually finding my way to Basefit alongside Daman, engaging in classes and personal training sessions.

Life took a pause as I welcomed two little ones, demanding most of my time and attention in recent years. Despite the hiatus, I persisted in personal training to stay connected. Having personally grappled with mental health challenges postpartum, I've come to acknowledge the profound impact of movement on mental wellbeing. It became my refuge and a crucial element in reclaiming myself.

Now, with a renewed focus, I aim to help you gain an appreciation for all movement forms and emphasize the significance of finding joy in your own fitness journey.

Hi I’m Josh,

When I was growing up I was never much interest in sports and fitness even though my whole family enjoyed and participated in various sporting activities. It didn’t find my passion for Health and Fitness until I was 14 and chose a to study a Level 1/2 Cambridge National in Sports Science.

From there I started to go to the gym myself with very little guidance and knowledge on how to train properly for the results you want see. This lead me through a lot of trail and error and spending lots of my free time researching and building my knowledge about Health and Fitness.

Once I finished my GCSE’s I wanted to further advance my knowledge and chose to
study a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science. This course educated me on a wide range of topics from Personal Training, Sports Psychology and even Business Management. Whilst I completed this course I got a part- time job at a local leisure centre, in which I started work on the reception. Being surrounded by people who worked in the health and fitness industry really inspired me, in particular the Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.

From here I knew that I wanted to be a Fitness Instructor and Personal trainer. So
when I finished my Extended Diploma I went and started a course to get my Level 2
Gym instructor and Level 3 Personal Training Qualification and started as working
full time in the gym of the same leisure centre.

This brings us to the present in which I am still developing my career with advanced
qualifications and CPD courses. So far I have really enjoyed my clients and my own
fitness journey and I look forward to helping many more people reach whatever goal
they have whether it is big or small.
